With the holidays just around the corner, my calendar is filled with family dinners, and Christmas parties. I was taught from early age that you never go to someone else’s home without a little gift in tow.

These gifts are sure to impress the host and not break the bank:

  1. As San Francisco Bay Area native, I like to bring an item celebrates the region. I have given countless bottles of rosé wine from Francis Ford Coopla Winery. I’ve also brought speciality cheese from Cow Girl Creamery. I’m personally a fan of their Mt. Tam variety and bring along crackers from Rustic Bakery, another Marin brand, whenever I can find them.
  2. Kitchen items that someone wouldn’t necessarily buy for themselves is another go-to host idea. My cousin loved receiving these unique measuring spoons after moving to a new apartment.
  3. I can never say no dessert and neither can my friends. I like a little creative with the sweet treats and bring a one-of-kind ice cream flavor from Salt and Straw or chocolate from Compartes. You can’t go wrong with their Cereal Bowl Chocolate Bar.
  4. Don’t forget about the host’s four-legged friend. Whenever I remember to bring a treat or new toy for a pal’s puppy, they always appreciate the extra effort.
